All row crops will benefit from having row cleaners on the planter. Residue management is even more important with healthier, high-yielding hybrids that are slower to decompose. Row cleaners should move the residue out of the row and not remove soil for maximum crop yield. Many other row cleaner products are difficult to set and do not provide optimum seedbed environment. Residue left on the row and trenching, results in slow, uneven crop emergence and lower yield.
Planter Pro® is attached to the faceplate or mounting area of the planter unit. Residue is first cut by a coulter then swept aside by a pair of row cleaners positioned just ahead of the gauge wheels. New patent pending technology includes pulling these wheels with independent-suspension. Row cleaners follow the soil terrain with spring-coil tension on each pivoting arm. Closing the top of the trench is more complete by keeping drier and warmer soil over the row.
A double-beveled, flat coulter allows for successful planting even into tough corn residue conditions by cutting the residue before clearing it away from the row area. A pair of 12-inch floating row cleaners mounted on independent-suspension, trailing arms automatically adjust to ground conditions for optimal residue removal. All hubs include leading ag industry quality, maintenance-free, double-row, sealed bearings. No greasing maintenance is required.
No complicated, expensive or unreliable hydraulics, electronics or pneumatics are needed for successful residue clearing while planting. Depth bands are not needed which are often recommended for floating systems that push the row cleaners.
Successfully plant continuous corn for higher yield, even in the old row where soil compaction is less. Planter Pro® removes previous crop residue from the planting row in minimum tillage, strip-till and no-till. Field experience has proven faster early-season growth of 50% more GDU’s in the first 30 days. Higher corn yield of 9 to 18 bushels per acre over other row cleaning systems.
